Unfortunately, it looks as though director Rian Johnson isn’t sticking with Star Wars: Episode VIII’s brilliant working title (Space Bears), as the real name has apparently been leaked. Bears or not, another spoilerific scene description suggests the film is going to be pretty awesome.Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: it might have been.
In less impressive naming news, Transformers 5 now has a subtitle, too.Transformers 5: Aggressively Catering For The Chinese Box Office
But, as we keep saying here at Flickering Myth, after the space and superhero bubbles pop, video games are poised to inherit the mainstream. Leading the charge might be Nintendo, who revealed this week that they are setting up their own productions studio to rival that of Marvel and DC’s, and will begin making films imminently.This. Make this happen now.
PUN RUN APPROACHING…
Tetris The Movie is also looking to lay the genre’s foundations. The project has really built up support amongst backers, constructing an $80 million budget – which means the bottom line will be very important. It’ll shoot next year, once all the pieces are in place. The film’s ambitions have yet to find a ceiling.
…PUN RUN ENDED.
It was reported this week that Daniel Craig had turned down a £68 million deal for two more James Bond movies, but the story has since been dismissed as rumour. That hasn’t stopped the bookies making Tom Hiddleston the new favourite to take the role, especially after his recent turn as a spy in The Night Manager. That’ll all change as soon as either Idris Elba or Tom Hardy releases a new movie.“£68 million? But I like gooooooooold!”
Speaking of, Star Trek Beyond has a second trailer. Elba plays the film’s villain, and the promo is much better than the Star Trek: Fast and Furious movie that was teased last year. The franchise Justin Lin left behind is moving ahead with Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray, which unveiled the first look at its eighth instalment’s villain, Cipher, played by Charlize Theron.Guns and a Metallica t-shirt? Proceed.
The Fast and Furious franchise arguably cemented Rock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson as a Hollywood megastar, and now his scarily muscular body is being called upon again. Johnson will head up a Robert Ludlum cinematic universe at Universal Pictures in The Janson Directive. Ludlum is the author behind the Jason Bourne series, so hopefully everything will eventually build up to a Rock vs Damon film.Just imagine Matt Damon in Hulk Hogan’s place. I CAN’T DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU.

Check out The Week in Trailers for the best from the last seven days, including Ghostbusters, Trainspotting 2, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and Sausage Party.Even making vegans ethically confused about food.
To play us out, then – in celebration of the film’s release this weekend – here’s my interview with X-Men: Apocalypse’s Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Ben Hardy (Angel). I say ‘interview’, but it’s actually a game of X-Men-themed Articulate.
May the Movies be with you.
