It’s been four years since Rob Zombie’s last film The Lords of Salem showcased the director at his most experimental, but the rocker-cum-filmmaker is back with the brand new slasher 31, and it looks like the same type of carnage-packed Grindhouse film he’s become renowned for. Check out the trailer below:
Like all of Zombie’s movies, it arrives on the back of a wave of controversy following struggles with the MPAA over its rating due to perverse sexual scenes and gratuitous violence. If that doesn’t make it even more appealing to you, then it’s probably not the type of film you’ll want to see. Not everybody appreciates Zombie’s visions for his films, but there is no denying that they’re uncompromising.
The film follows five carnival workers who are kidnapped and held hostage in an abandoned, Hell-like compound where they are forced to participate in a violent game, the goal of which is to survive twelve hours against a gang of sadistic clowns.
31 stars Elizabeth Daily, Torsten Voges, Malcolm McDowell, Meg Foster and Sheri Moon Zombie. The film will be available on VOD September 16th, and open theatrically October 21st,
