Back in 2013 before the overwhelmingly positive reception to Tim Miller’s test footage saw 20th Century Fox finally giving Deadpool the green light, the studio was inviting pitches from other filmmakers in an effort to drag the Merc with a Mouth out of development hell.
One such pitch came from Jeff Wadlow, director of Kick-Ass 2 – and a writer on Fox’s X-Force – who linked up with artist Kelton Cram to produce some concept art for his pitch. And thanks to Comic Book, we’ve got a look at some of the said artwork, including two images of Deadpool, and one of Random, a member of the Marauders, who Cram modeled on Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
