Right out of the San Diego Comic Con comes a behind the scenes look for Xbox One’s upcoming Halo Wars 2, the sequel to 2009’s RTS game Halo Wars set within the Halo franchise. Halo Wars 2 sees the UNSC Spirit of Fire, declared lost and/or destroyed at the end of Halo Wars, emerge from cryosleep 28 years later. They find themselves above the massive Forerunner structure known as The Ark, but they are not alone. Captain Cutter and his crew must face off against The Banished, a faction of Brutes led by the chieftain Atriox.
Halo Wars was a massive hit and changed the ways developers could create RTS games for consoles. Its sequel is being developed by Creative Assembly, the same company that developed several games in the Total War series. In addition to the campaign, the online multiplayer will offer players a variety of modes to play, such as:
Skirmish: Battle against a range of AI difficulty levels. Fight across all the environments and multiplayer game modes with as many AI and co-op friends as each mode will allow
Strongholds: A fast-paced, timed game mode where the objective is to control more bases than your opponent when the timer stops
Domination: Build your base and army. Battle for control of the map and supremacy of the Ark
Deathmatch: Plan and build your base and army in a fight to the death with your opponent
Blitz: An all-new multiplayer mode that is an exciting addition to the Halo Wars series with a unique approach to RTS gameplay.
Halo Wars 2 will be released for Xbox One and PC on February 21, 2017
