A Kurt Angle return to WWE has been rumoured since…well, since Kurt Angle left WWE in the first place, but it really started to intensify over Wrestlemania 32 weekend. And Angle has stoked the return rumour fires when talking to Title Match Wrestling:
“You have to have interest from Triple H and Vince McMahon. I spoke with them a few months ago. They do have interest, they just don’t know what they want to do. And they don’t know when. I haven’t talked to anybody in the last few months. I don’t expect to until late fall, but you’re not going to see Kurt Angle in that ring this year. Maybe next year, maybe not at all. It was more of a loose conversation. They have interest, I have interest, but it didn’t really go anywhere.”
Apart from out-and-out saying he won’t return to WWE this year, Angle doesn’t really reveal anything new here. We already know about the “loose conversation” with Triple H and Vince McMahon.
But where it really gets interesting is considering Angle’s ‘next year’ return tease alongside what Dave Meltzer – arguably the most connected journalist in professional wrestling – said on the Q+A segment on last Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio.
Meltzer was asked if 2K – the company behind WWE’s video games – gets Angle as next year’s edition’s pre-order bonus, whether that will pave the way for Kurt’s return to the company. In the past, 2K deals have foreshadowed eventual WWE signings for both Sting and Ultimate Warrior.
Meltzer paused for a long time when asked this, laughed, and then simply replied: “so the answer to that question…is yes.” The way he answered the question – pausing, chuckling and giving a brief reply – has caused many to speculate that Meltzer is protecting a source, and knows a lot more than he’s letting on.
Wrestler Tweet of the Day time now! Again, I don’t know what you’re talking about, we’ve always had this segment…
We’ve all been there, trying to get on a flight when your newly won Smackdown Women’s Title sets off the metal detector. Here’s Becky Lynch to share your very generic anecdote:
Got stopped going through TSA today. My bag was apparently detected for explosives. It must be because my new title is da bomb!!!

Good one, Becky!
But seriously, airport security is no laughing matter.
Who would you want Kurt Angle’s first feud to be against on his WWE return? Let us know how awesome an Angle vs James Ellsworth match will be in the comments below.
