Warning: Spoilers below from the recent NXT tapings…
Over the last few weeks we’ve seen NXT Women’s Champion Asuka tear through the entire roster of competitors following her win over Bayley at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II. Just a few weeks ago, number one contender Liv Morgan lasted only a few minutes against The Empress of Tomorrow and it seemed like no one was ready to take her on.
But now Asuka has a new challenger – and it’s former WWE Women’s Champion and WWE Divas Champion Mickie James.
The announcement was made at last night’s NXT Tapings, and the match is set for NXT Takeover: Toronto which will take place on November 19th.
James last wrestled for WWE in 2010 before jumping over to TNA where she won the Women’s Championship three times. She is a former five-time WWE Women’s Champion and a one-time Divas Champion. Most recently, James performed at Chikara’s King of Trios.
Also on NXT Takeover: Toronto, Shinsuke Nakamura defends his NXT Championship against Samoa Joe and the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
