20th Century Fox has announced that it is set to give fans attending New York Comic Con next week their very first look at the upcoming sequel War for the Planet of the Apes, with director Matt Reeves, producer Dylan Clark and star Andy Serkis set to host a panel on Thursday featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the movie, along with the first footage. But first, we’ve got an official synopsis for the film, which serves as a follow up to the rebooted Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
“Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.”
War for the Planet of the Apes is scheduled for release on July 14th, 2017 in the US and July 21st, 2017 in the UK. Andy Serkis (Caesar) and Judy Greer (Cornelia) are both reprising their roles and will be joined in the cast by new additions Woody Harrelson, Gabriel Chavarria, Steve Zahn and Sara Canning.
