Creative Assembly and SEGA are preparing to release the latest race onto Total War: Warhammer with the Realm of the Wood Elves DLC pack coming on the 8th December. Now, being a bit of a Dwarf fan Elves on the whole don’t do much for me but the Wood Elves are different. This ancient elven race don’t consider themselves pompous like the High Elves nor debased like the Dark Elves, they are defenders of the forest, in tune with all the spirits and beasts therein.
The home to the Wood Elves is the ancient forest of Athel Loren just south of Bretonnia. The Wood Elves share Athel Loren with all the creatures within and often use these in their war parties, stags as steeds, War Hawks and Great Eagles, Dryads and Treemen and even Forest Dragons will join their cause if in peril.
In Realm of the Wood Elves DLC players will experience a new race to play that requires a whole new play style to that of other races. There will be new legendary lords, lords and magic to take control of. The new Legendary Lords are Orion, a demi-god with great melee skills and 2 powerful magic spells to cast, and Durthu the most ancient of Treemen who has the ability to summon Manticores. Normal Lord characters are Glade Lords and Ancient Treemen. Other troops that Wood Elf players will be able to control are Glade Guard, Glade Riders, Waywatchers, Wardancers, Dryads, Branchwraiths, Waystalkers and Spellsingers.
Wood Elf players will also have access to Amber, a new finite currency type that will need to be used to expand the Oak of Ages (a unique 5 tier structure that will grant battle bonuses throughout the campaign) or enlist certain types of elite troops. With Amber being a finite resource it tasks players with the problem of what to invest it in.
Realm of the Wood Elves will provide a new story campaign set across Athel Loren and the Duchies of Breton where players can choose from either Orion or Durthu. During the campaign players must face Bretonnian incursions into the forest and later on some serious attacks from Beastlord Morghur and his Bray Herd.
Look out for this latest DLC pack coming to Steam on the 8th December.
