Roman Reigns has been pulled from WWE’s current tour of Europe.
As you might have realised from Raw and Smackdown being broadcast from Scotland this week, WWE haven’t been in the States for the last fortnight or so. They’ve been touring various countries in Europe, living like rock stars and punching Chris Jericho in the face.
In response to a fan asking why Reigns wasn’t at the Raw show in Vienna, Austria, Dave Meltzer replied on Twitter:
Was pulled off the rest of the tour. won’t be at any shows rest of week. Don’t know reason but not an injury.
Speculation immediately jumped to Wellness Policy violations and injuries, but F4WOnline have since reported that Reigns has been pulled from the rest of the tour because of family commitments, which has caused the shows to be rearranged – suggesting it wasn’t a planned absence.
The live house shows often give clues as to what direction WWE’s television storylines will take. Wrestlers often feud in non-televised matches leading up to an eventual program on Monday Night Raw or Smackdown Live itself.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the plans for the Raw touring shows following Christmas is Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns for the Universal title, Chris Jericho vs Seth Rollins – some of which will be street fights – and The New Day vs Cesaro & Sheamus vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Nothing has been advertised for the women’s title as WWE still don’t know what direction they’re going with for Charlotte and Bayley’s feud.
This seems to have been confirmed by the wonderfully titled PPG Paints Arena – which is where December’s Roadblock: End of the Line pay-per-view is taking place on the 18th December – who have tweeted that Owens will be defending his Universal Title against Reigns, and that Rollins will be facing Jericho. But, then again, they’re also the arena who are still advertising Finn Balor on their website. Card subject to change.
