It’s been a good while since we had a ‘First Look’ video for the civs in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, but now Firaxis and 2K have introduced Poland as a premium DLC playable race. Poland is led by King Jadwiga who is, strangely enough, a woman. Jadwiga was a strong and religious leader who expanded Poland’s power in the 14th century. Watch the new first look video below for more information on Poland…
Poland has the ‘Golden Liberty’ ability which allows extra territory to be gained when building a fort or encampment in friendly territory. When a fort or encampment is built all adjacent tiles, even those belonging to other Civs will become Polish territory. This ability also ties in with Jadwiga’s own unique ability. Also, one of Poland’s military policies become a wildcard policy.
Jadwiga’s unique ability is ‘Lithuanian Unions’ which uses her religious strengths. Any enemy city that loses territory to the ‘Golden Liberty’ ability also gets Poland’s founded religion as the majority religion in that city. Jadwiga’s relics also provide additional faith, culture and gold.
Poland’s unique unit is the Winged Hussar. When this cavalry unit attacks an enemy it has a chance to push the enemy back a tile if it causes more damage than it receives. If the retreating unit has nowhere to run then it will take additional damage.
The Suekiennice, or cloth hall, is Poland’s unique building and provides bonus production from international trade routes and extra gold from domestic trade routes.
The Poland DLC pack also adds the new scenario ‘Jadwiga’s Legacy’.
Poland is a strong expansionist civ with great religious abilities. If you fancy playing as Jadwiga and leading Poland to victory visit Steam here and purchase this new DLC for just £3.99.
