Joel Huenink from The Fun Pimps is back and ready to share more 7 Days to Die Alpha 16 news in his latest video. In this week’s new video fans of the popular zombie survival game will be able to see more of the new features coming in Alpha 16 including more on the Behemoth zombie, a sneak preview of the editor tool, changes to the dreaded Feral zombie and gameplay showing the distant POIs. Watch the new video below.
To start off the video this week Joel shows off the final concept art drawing of the Behemoth Zombie which he introduced us to last week and it has changed slightly to look much more athletic rather than just a huge walking mass of muscles and bone. Joel also provides us with a bit of back story for the Behemoth as well and it is all to do with alien DNA taking over a former human host body and growing within it. Certainly scary sci-fi stuff and it definitely looks alien.
Next we are shown a prototype of the new Arizona style house that Joel is working on which includes a new 3m arch shape. All of this done within the new editor tool which will become available at some point though not necessarily in Alpha 16. There have also been changes made to the paint tool so that now the texture you will be painting with now shows behind the paintbrush icon in the tool bar. The painting sub menu also now provides a paint roller option so that it will be possible to paint large sections at once, a very handy tool for those wanting to save precious time.
Joel shows some images of planned changes to Feral zombies. Normal Feral Zombie models will become more dynamic and have glowing yellow eyes. They will still run during daylight hours and still be terrifying, however, should a regular zombie eat a player or an animal, or even an animal corpse that you leave then that too shall become feral and adopt the yellow glowing eyes and run. Just another reason not to let players near you get killed.
Finally we get to see actual gameplay of the Distant POI feature and it looks absolutely brilliant. Standing on a mountain, Joel shows us the surrounding area and we can see the trader outpost in the foreground, buildings by lakes and even a town in the distance. It is looking so much better and will be a relief for those who prefer to play on random gen worlds.
Personally, I think this is looking to be the best update of the alpha to date but what do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below…
