Since it was announced last year, there’s been very little word on Goosebumps 2, but now Sony has revealed that the sequel to the 2015 film will be released on January 26th, 2018 with several of the crew returning.
Rob Letterman, the original’s director, is set to return alongside Goosebumps‘ writer Darren Lemke. Sony also wants Jack Black to come back as Goosebumps series author R.L. Stine and while nothing is confirmed yet, he is apparently expected to return to the role. While Black is in talks to come back, there’s no word yet on the return of the young cast members, or whether the sequel will follow the lead of the books by focusing on a new group of children to save the day.
Based on the young horror series, Goosebumps told anthologies of children confronting various monsters, from abominable snowmen to ventriloquist dummies. The first film grossed $150 million back during its release in 2015.
