One of the exciting announcements made at last year’s Game Awards was that Telltale would be developing a game based on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Not much has been revealed about the project since, but according to a pre-order page on Gamestop we have a clearer idea of what the Guardians will face, as well as a release date timed to coincide with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting theaters.
Here is the synopsis according to the GameStop post:
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series delivers a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands.
From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience.
GameStop previously listed the release date as April 25th, but has since removed the date. Whether or not that is because the date was incorrect or was not meant to be revealed just yet is unknown. However, it would make sense for Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series to come out just when attention on Marvel’s intergalactic crusaders are at the height of their popularity this summer.
