Earlier this week Marvel teased us all with an announcement that would land today, and while some thought it would be the inclusion of Marvel characters in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts game, it was actually the announcement of a brand new Avengers game, currently just titled The Avengers Project.
Check out the trailer below:

From the looks of the trailer, we can expect to see Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America as characters within the game. No word yet on if they’re playable or not. The glasses could be from Matt Murdock, or they’re just some poor dude knocked down by The Green Goliath. The female voice, most likely, is Captain Marvel who is looking to reassemble The Avengers after “the time of heroes is over”.
Not only are we getting a new Avengers game, but the tweet announces a multi-game partnership between Square Enix, Marvel and Crystal Dynamics.
This won’t be the only game released this year with Marvel characters, as they will take battle once again in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. A first-person Avengers game, titled Avengers: Battle For Earth and based on the Secret Invasion storyline, was set for release alongside the 2012 movie, but was cancelled when THQ Australia was closed down.
No other details are available at this time. We’re not even sure what console The Avengers Project will be available on, or if it’s even a console game! But are you excited?
