Remember the days when board games where nothing more than firstly arguing over who shall play the Iron or the Thimble, then you needed to acquire wealth until your family & friends descending into calling each other cheats and then much more colourful words? Well those very hum-drum days have long-since past and arriving on Kickstarter today – from ITB Board Games (ITB) – is Sub Terra, a Cooperative survival horror game which will find you trapped within claustrophobic caverns, deep underground, with fading light and the minutes ticking down.
Sub Terra was selected at the Wyverns Lair event (think along the lines of Dragons Den) during the UK Games Expo 2016. Designed by Tim Pinder who is an A.I. programmer within the videogames industry, Tim went on to choose ITB – from several companies – to publish Sub Terra. The world of Sub Terra has grown to fully immerse the player within its world. As now available – alongside the game – are Graphic Novels, Development Diaries and even a planned escape room experience.
The wanted total is set at £16,500 and as with all Kickstarter campaigns these comes with some excellent additions the more you pledge. Starting at just £1 for your name in the credits and working all the way to £794 for everything including all the expansions, expertly painted character miniatures, a customised board, Tabletopia playthrough with the designers and much more. ITB also have the stretch goals listed which start at matte finished cards and work up to custom engraved die.
Sub Terra is a cooperative survival horror board game. You and up to five friends are cave explorers who have become trapped deep underground. You must quickly explore a tile-based cave system to find the way out before your flashlights die and you’re lost in the darkness forever.
You’ll need to work together to overcome deadly subterranean hazards – stick together for safety, or split up to cover more ground. One wrong step could knock you unconscious and your friends will need to stage a rescue. Light and hope are scarce. And worst of all, you don’t think you’re alone down here…
If you’d like to be part of the Sub Terra campaign then get over to their Kickstarter page here.
