Next month, Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver will be premiering at Austin’s South by Southwest (SXSW) and festival goers will be treated to the very first screening of the film. Unfortunately, the rest of the world will have to wait until August to see the latest directorial effort from the man behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but seeing as how Wright has yet to let audience members down, the movie should be well worth the wait. And besides, Wright will surely be teasing certain aspects of the film between now and its release to hold those anxious to see it over, as proven by his new posts on Instagram.
Over the past few days, the director has shared three Baby Driver-related posts, beginning with a picture of a page from the script. The caption attached reads: “This time last year I was about to shoot ‘Baby Driver’ in Atlanta. Next month it receives its world premiere at @sxsw in Austin, Texas. It’s almost finished and I can’t wait for you to see it.”
Things got more exciting when he posted the script cover for the shooting draft, which features Ansel Elgort’s Baby sporting a pair of sunglasses and headphones. Oscar Wright, Edgar’s brother, provided the art for the cover.
Most recently, Wright shared an image of the first page of the film’s script. On it are two quotes from poet T.S. Eliot and musician Paul Simon, which the director says “are not actually in [the] movie.” Additionally, the words “Every scene in this film is driven by music” are written as well, a statement that will be a blast to see come to life on screen.
A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.
Baby Driver stars Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, and Jamie Foxx, with a release in the US set for August 11th, 2017 and the UK a few days after.
