I think we can all agree that 2016 was completely insane. If you thought this year would be any different, then you overlooked the fact that the current President of the United States is a WWE Hall of Famer. I’m not saying whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I’m just saying, the President of the United States is a WWE Hall of Famer.
The Wrestling Observer shared an image to remind us all of this fact, showing the whole McMahon family – kids included – at their recent visit with President Donald Trump at the White House.Watch your back there, Donald. Triple H has already caused one friendship to break up this week.
As the Wrestling Observer points out, all the adults in that photo bar Shane McMahon’s wife, including the President of the United States, have been stunnered by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
This week’s Raw was the least-watched episode with no major sporting event or holiday to compete with since 1997 – a shame considering it contained one of the best segments in the show’s history with the Festival of Friendship. Unfortunately, it also featured one of its most trolling: the ‘repackaging’ of Emmalina.
After several months of promo teases, and numerous delays, Emmalina finally debuted her new gimmick on Monday night to announce…she’s going back to her old gimmick.
Pro Wrestling Sheet are reporting that there actually were big plans for the Emmalina character, but after multiple rehearsals, the producers realised she couldn’t pull off what they were looking for.
According to the report, WWE wanted Emmalina to be a throwback to characters like Sable and The Kat, but officials felt that she wasn’t committing enough to the role, so the decision was made to revert to her previous gimmick.
Pro Wrestling Sheet did say that WWE are still big fans of the character idea, though, which is why they persisted for so long – 133 days, to be exact – in the hope that it would work, so it’s possible they’ll use the gimmick for another female wrestler in the future.
Staying with the women’s division, there’s been a possible update to Dave Meltzer’s recent report that WWE are contacting female stars from the company’s past to be involved at Wrestlemania 33.
As Kelly Kelly lives in Las Vegas, where Raw was broadcast from this week, WWE caught up with her backstage in an interview posted on their YouTube channel, where the former Divas champion teased:
“I would love to do one more run or something in the future…”
The interviewer asked if that could be as early as this year’s Wrestlemania.
“There’s definitely a chance. I will be doing an AXXESS signing…and, you never know, maybe something else.”
How would you have made Emmalina’s character work in her debut? Tell me how you’d just have kept the ‘Coming Soon’ promos running forever in the comments below.
