Star Wars Battlefront may have been a huge success in terms of sales, but the reception from fans and critics certainly wasn’t as strong as Electronic Arts would have liked. Well, it seems EA has taken the criticism on board, and is promising to rectify things this year with the currently-in-development Battlefront 2.
“We’re thrilled to bring a new Star Wars Battlefront game to fans worldwide in the 2017 holiday season,” reads a statement on the official EA website. “In the past two years, Rogue One and The Force Awakens have opened new storylines and captured the imagination of hundreds of millions of Star Wars fans. We’ve listened closely to our passionate Star Wars Battlefront community, and expanded our existing game with more great content and experiences since its launch. As that game continues to thrive, we have also heard our players’ desire for even more depth and progression. Our next Star Wars Battlefront will be even bigger, taking players into more locations, and allowing them to play with more heroes and characters across multiple Star Wars eras. There will be new ways to play, including an all-new single-player campaign, and much, much more that we are excited to share with our players in the months ahead. To build a game of this magnitude, we’ve brought together three great studios – DICE, Motive, and Criterion – and aligned their areas of expertise to deliver an amazing experience in the next Star Wars Battlefront.”
We’ve already heard that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will feature content tying in to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but could these multiple eras include a return to the Prequel Trilogy era as well as the OT? Hopefully we’ll find out more information at Star Wars Celebration Orlando in April.

About time they did a single player. The last one was a disappointment.

First impressions are most important. I couldn’t care less what they do in #2, I wont buy it, I don’t play the first one. They should offer it for free since they ripped everyone off the first time.

if you “don’t” play the first one, how do you know they ripped everyone off? and besides, that is just your opinion. also, how would you like to work for free? what if your boss said to you that he didnt like your quality of work, and feels you “ripped him off”, so he thinks you should work for free on your next pay period?
Yamin Namsan says
I “did” play it, that’s how I know it’s junk. I know a quality product when I see one, that one was a rip off no matter who likes it or what they paid, yes that’s my opinion. If my boss didn’t like my work he should fire me without pay. I do it to crap employees all the time. If someone makes a junk product do you think they deserve money just because they created something? Look, if you like that game, fine, I hate it and no one should care including EA. If you can make millions off junk products, don’t stop.
