Kurt was announced as the first inductee into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class on the 16th January episode of Raw. He’s been rather transparent in interviews about what he wants to do now he’s back, like this one to Busted Open Radio last week:
“Triple H and I did not have a discussion about wrestling after Wrestlemania yet. Do I think it will happen? Yes. Do I know for sure? No.”
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE are thinking along the same lines, with Dave Meltzer reporting:
“I don’t know when or how extensively at this point, but the plan right now is that Angle will be doing at least some wrestling in WWE. He would have to pass a physical, and obviously at best it would be very limited.”
The problem there is that Kurt probably thinks a ‘limited’ match involves a moonsault of the top of a cage.
Before any in-ring return, though, Angle has the Hall of Fame first. But who’s going to induct him? Kurt has previously said Stone Cold Steve Austin is his “no-brainer” choice, but Jim Ross has speculated on his podcast, going by what he’s heard, that John Cena might actually be the guy.
Apparently Stone Cold was just about to get the spot, but Cena kicked out at two.
As I spoke about on yesterday’s news episode, Kelly Kelly was backstage at Raw this week not only because she lives nearby, but also to tease a potential Wrestlemania 33 appearance, saying on a WWE YouTube clip: “There’s definitely a chance.”
This is particularly interesting because it feeds into what Dave Meltzer had recently reported – that WWE are reaching out to female stars from the company’s past for a role in their biggest show of the year.
This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now confirmed that Kelly Kelly was one of these women, and added another potential name…I’m going to say it…added another potential name to the list: former WWE star Victoria, who also wrestled for TNA as Tara.
Apparently Victoria – whose real name is Lisa Marie Varon – has teased something on Snapchat. Full disclosure, I haven’t seen what she teased, I’m only going by the Wrestling Observer saying she teased ‘something’ and it fits in with the reports of WWE contacting female stars from the company’s past. I haven’t got SnapChat. I’m a MySpace guy. If it ain’t broke…
Elsewhere on the Wrestlemania card, we have some potential updates from CageSideSeats’ rumour section. Remember, these are only rumours, so take them like you would a Tequila slamma. With a lot of salt and full expectation you’ll fly into a drunken rage.
Apparently AJ Styles being forced to compete in next week’s #1 contender battle royal on Smackdown Live – because Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton has refused to face his master WWE Champion Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania – will be part of the build to The Phenomenal One’s Mania match with Shane McMahon.
Yep, that’s still happening.
Regarding the Orton vs Wyatt match itself, the rumour section also says WWE officials are now considering adding Luke Harper to make it a Triple Threat.
And even though WWE expect Seth Rollins to be back in time for his match against Triple H, they are still making back-up plans in case he doesn’t.
What would you use all these former female stars for at Wrestlemania? Tell me someone better get Snoop Dogg on the phone, because – social progress be damned – we’ve got ourselves a BunnyMania Lumberjill Match on the way in the comments down below.
