Season 3 of the financial Showtime crime drama Billions has been greenlit by the network.
Billions season 2 was Showtime’s biggest season debut since Homeland and the network seem to be keen to keep the good times rolling with the Damian Lewis/Paul Giamatti-led TV drama.
There were a lot of high hopes for the show upon release, since the series saw Lewis returning to TV and to Showtime after his much loved Homeland character left the programme. And Billions now seems to be doing quite nicely for Showtime, with ratings up 13 percent this past Sunday night against the season two premier.
As reported by Deadline, President of Showtime David Nevins recently talked up the series while also commenting on season 3: “It offers a unique mix of pure entertainment with sly commentary on our current have/have-not economy. Season 2 is off to a tremendous start, and has only whetted our audience’s appetite for what will come in Season 3”.
Fans of the show will surely be please by this news and hoping that Billions can keep up this momentum into next season and beyond.
