The roster of playable characters for Injustice 2 keeps growing as the game edges closer to its release. The latest character Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have revealed is the hero Firestorm. Check out a trailer of gameplay footage showing off Firestorm’s power set below…
Firestorm is actually a combination of two characters within the DC universe. Introduced in 1978, high school student Ronnie Raymond and physicist Martin Stein were victims of a nuclear accident, giving them the ability to merge together into a ‘nuclear man’. With Ronnie controlling their physical body and Stein acting as a mental voice in his head, they commanded the power to manipulate and create matter into anything they wished.
After Ronnie died in the mini-series Identity Crisis, high school student Jason Rusch became the new Firestorm and looks to be the one featured in Injustice 2. Currently, Raymond appeared in the first season of The Flash while Jefferson ‘Jax’ Jackson, a minor supporting character in the comics, took the role over in the second season and the spin-off Legends of Tomorrow.
The current list of confirmed characters for the game are:
- Black Canary
- Blue Beetle
- Captain Cold
- Doctor Fate
- Gorilla Grodd
- Green Arrow
- Green Lantern
- Harley Quinn
- Poison Ivy
- Swamp Thing
- Wonder Woman
These are also the confirmed skins coming to Injustice 2 which transform existing characters into other DC characters with unique voices and dialogue.
- Green Lantern (John Stewart)
- Power Girl
