Firaxis and 2K have released a new trailer showing the latest civilisation coming to Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. This latest video in the ‘First Look’ series reveals the Persian civilisation led by Cyrus II of Persia AKA Cyrus the Great. Watch the trailer for the latest civ below…
Cyrus the Great was the founder of the Persian empire and although he had a reputation for ruthlessness against his foes he was also known for his tolerance of the customs and religions of the lands he conquered unlike many other empires of the time. Cyrus’s special ability is Fall of Babylon and grants a movement bonus to all Persian units after a surprise war is declared. Cyrus also gets a reduced diplomatic penalty for this action.
The Immortal is Persia’s unique unit and replaces the swordsmen. The Immortal gets a ranged attack but also has a strong combat defence unlike most other ranged units.
Persia’s unique improvement is the Pairidaeza and provides culture, gold and appeal with additional bonuses for being adjacent to districts and city centers. The Pairidaeza’s yield increases over time as you progress through the tech trees. Building these early on in the game can provide an advantage if you try for a cultural or economic victory.
Persia’s unique ability is Setrapeha and provides a free trade route once the player has researched Political Philosophy. This ability also provides bonuses to internal trade routes.
The Persian civ looks set for providing players with a cultural victory but its ability to build up vast wealth also means that other victory types are also within player’s grasp.
Keep an eye out for Persia coming soon.
