Indie developer Psyonix have announced a free new mode called Dropshot for their sports action hit title, Rocket League. Arriving on the 22nd March this new free game mode adds a completely new layer to the gameplay that will see players destroying the floor to their arenas. To see this new game mode in action watch the trailer below…
In Dropshot players will compete in a new hexagonal arena known as ‘Core 707’. This new arena has no conventional goalposts, instead players must use the electrified ball to break open the floor on their opponents half to create a goal. Once the goal has been scored the floor closes again and the action will continue once again. During the time of the match the electrified ball will gain more power that will cause more damage with every hit.
Just like the previous free additions to be released (like the Rumble, Hoops and Mutator modes), Dropshot will appear as its own online playlist in both Private and Exhibition matches.
The Dropshot update will include six new Achievements and Trophies and an all-new Esports “Live Now” button for official streams. It will also see the end of Competitive Season 3 and the start of Competitive Season 4.
Dropshot will kick off on the 22nd March.
