Following on from last month’s news from the team over at The64 in which they updated us about the circuit boards, this month we’ve been given a quick glimpse at some CAD layouts for their upcoming devices.
Though not highly detailed the images below give us a glimpse into the inner workings of the handheld The64 unit and the outer shell of the larger machine. These CAD models have been created so the PCB’s – which are being finalised – along with any connectors can be placed virtually before any manufacturing has begun.

Along with this in the Indiegogo update there’s news on the user interface, we learn that the team is attempting to :-
“…find the right blend between HD presentation and classic C64 retro styling.”
With each option currently being shortlisted, they will soon be handed over to the development team to choose which is the best.
The update closes on the news that the money that was gained via crowdfunding or via pre-orders is:-
“…NOT being used for wages, or trips like the one to GDC in the USA. That money taken is ring fenced for manufacture and development, and the only use of any money not used for that manufacture, is actual directly related costs to it, or obvious out of pocket expenses related to that process, nothing more.”
The team do state that later down the line they do hope to start making a profit, but at this moment they wanted to highlight the above fact.
