Roller Coaster Productions is making a documentary about the Nintendo 64 cult-classic Goldeneye 64, and they are currently seeking funding. The documentary is named Goldenera, and seeks to explore the impact the game has had on the console gaming industry, and how it exceeded everyone’s expectations at the time. After all: the game could have been just another movie tie-in cash grab; Goldeneye 64 ended up being so much more than that.
Here is a description of the documentary from its indiegogo page, which goes into loads more detail:
In 2017 our team began work on a documentary about the the game GoldenEye 007 for N64. A game that changed the way we play video games. We have interviewed GoldenEye developers, as well as many industry experts from IGN, Kotaku, GameSpot and Good Game. What we found was a story that’s even more fascinating than we hoped. Which is why we’re asking for your help to take the project to the next level and capture many more stories and create the documentary this game deserves.
Who doesn’t have fond memories of Goldeneye 64? Unless you’re simply too young to have experienced the game when it released, chances are you have poured a decent amount of time into its multiplayer, and likely have your own preferred match settings (license to kill, pistols only, level: preferably complex, absolutely NO Oddjob). The project is well short of its funding goal, so if you want to see a documentary about the legendary Goldeneye 64 see the light of day, get donating!
