Big Way Games have announced that Beta access is now available for their hardcore sandbox RPG, Steam Hammer. Set in a dark and mysterious steampunk world, is the result of a successful kickstarter campaign and 2 years of development from a committed team of developers.
Steam Hammer transports players to a 19th century alternate reality where the world has embraced the power of the steam engine to such an extent that factories, airships, mechanisms and fortifications all rely on this source of energy. Players will be able to construct mines, tunnels, ditches and mounds to create the environment they want to live in and create their own fleet of customisable airships to defend against their enemies.
There are over 40 different types of weapons and armour to craft and use in combat against enemies and wild animals, there are also over 30 different buildings and fortifications to construct to grow your town.
The game offers an open class system so players can choose a variety of different skills including engineer, scientist, farmer, gunsmith and sharpshooter and switch between these skills when they want. However, the game features a realistic skill development so if you want to master a particular skill you will have to put the effort in and not expect it to fall in your laps like some other games.
Steam Hammer is now available with a 50% discount (currently £9.99/ $11.99/ €11.99) anyone who purchases the game now at this price will receive the full game when it is released.
Check out the game’s Steam page here or visit the Steam Hammer website to purchase the beta.
