As casting continues on Widows, Variety is reporting that Colin Farrell is in final talks to board the new film from director Steve McQueen (Shame, 12 Years a Slave).
Should a deal be reached, Farrell will join Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Kaluuya, Andre Holland and Liam Neeson in the film, which has been scripted by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn and is based upon Lynda La Plante’s 1983 British TV miniseries.
Widows revolves around the wives of a group of armed robbers, who team up to complete the heist when their husbands are killed on the job. Farrell is reportedly set to play a politician who finds himself mixed up on the widows’ plans.
Farrell has recently signed on to portray Oliver North in an Amazon series about the Iran-Contra scandal, and is also attached to Tim Burton’s live-action Dumbo remake, as well as Dan Gilroy’s legal drama Inner City.
