Midway through March we – here at Flickering Myth – brought you the news that the team over at The 64 Head-Quarters were currently signing off new games at GDC, as they already had 300+ titles for the device and had decided on promising no fillers. Well in the latest of three updates over the weekend not only did they reveal the plastic design for The 64 Mini but also a cluster of storming titles within the machine’s games list.

Seen below is the plastic designs for The64 Mini, which is it already off at the manufactures to finalise. This device has been designed to be not only a games machine, but also a fully working computer. Looking at the picture below we can see it’s around 22cm’s long and the design team inform us that it’s going to be 50% the size of the original computer.
The image below should instantly ring those classic gaming bells as Cybernoid, Uridium, Nebulus and Paradroid leap out at you from the Hewson stable. With this and the Sam’s Journey, the new title being developed specifically for The64, the list – which is still growing – has already got off to a good start. Along with this within the latest updates it’s highlighted that “YOU” will get the chance to choose which games you want on The64.
“We also intend in the coming weeks to let you guys actually pick (we will do some sort of poll) from the available games we will have signed, so you can pick which ones YOU want embedded on the system pre-done and loaded for you, as we want you to all be part of this journey with us as well, keep watching for that soon.”
There should be another update telling us about further games, more hardware specifications and a first look at the user interface coming soon, so we shall keep our eyes open for that.
