The rather fantastic first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok dropped this week, and THR is reporting that it set a brand new record for both Marvel Studios and Disney for the most views in 24 hours, racking up a whopping 136 million in its first day online.
That tops the previous Marvel record of 94 million for Captain America: Civil War, as well as the Disney record of 127.6 million set by Beauty and the Beast. Its Disney record will likely be short lived however, with our first glimpse at Star Wars: The Last Jedi set to arrive this weekend…
As impressive as Thor’s numbers are, it does fall considerably short of the overall record, set by the Stephen King adaptation It last month with an insane 197 million views, as well as the 139 million views generated by The Fate of the Furious.

Still, it looks certain that Marvel has another sure fire hit on its hands with the God of Thunder’s third solo outing.
In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk.
Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and features Marvel veterans Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk alongside Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge and Sam Neill in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on October 27th in the UK and November 3rd in the States.
