Yooka-Laylee is taking gamers back to the classic era of platformers that we adored on our PS1’s and N64’s. When it appeared on Kickstarter it attracted the attention of over 80,000 backers and netted over £2.1million, this also gained Playtonics the attention of award-winning, industry-veterans Team17 who also threw their weight behind it and it is finally now days away from arriving on the shelves. But first it’s going to be an classic arcade machine…
That’s right, Yooka-Laylee is going to appear at London’s Loading Bar – in London – on the 10th April in full retro arcade style glory thanks to Bespoke Games along with Team17 and Playtonic Games. Adorned in Yooka-Laylee graphics all-around it, this will be available to play with numerous buttons and of course a stubby joystick.
Gavin Price, MD of Playtonic commented, “Yooka-Laylee features several really fun, multiplayer arcade games, so when the opportunity emerged to make a real Yooka arcade cabinet it felt like a great fit! Even better, for the coming weeks, you don’t even need to leave the pub to play it.”
Ben Georget, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Bespoke Arcades. “We’ve worked on hundreds of arcades with custom features and graphics, but the Yooka-Laylee machine holds a special place in our hearts. Our team are huge fans of the Rare era and we’ve been looking forward to Yooka-Layee for what seems like forever! We’re delighted to be part of the games’ launch.”
For those that want to play Yooka-Laylee is this extra special way and of course a day before release, you’ll need to get down to London’s Loading Bar, 97 Stoke Newington Rd, Stoke Newington, London N16 8BX on the 10th April.
