With the current resurge in the retrogaming everything has recently being focused on The64 and the ZX Spectrum Vega+, it’s seems to have been a but quiet of the ZX Spectrum Next front in the way of news. For those that follow the Facebook page we’ve seen the odd titbit even so often, but over this weekend a cluster of things happened.
The first thing to appear was from Jim Bagley (Midnight Resistance, Cabal) on the 2nd April, which was the announcement – over on Facebook – that the ZX Spectrum Next was now in the hands of Kickstarter, hopefully an indication that the campaign is set to start shortly.
This was shortly followed by Henrique Olifers, who we interviewed here at Flickering Myth back in May 2016, with a YouTube reel of games running – on the ZX Spectrum Next – at 7mhz and showing off its enhanced graphics ability.
Over on Twitter Jas Austin released a short video highlighting that he’s begun working on Rex Next, though sparse it’s great news for those of us who are fans of this classic title. Anyone not familiar with Rex, this was truly, graphically beautiful game from 1988, and it was fantastic to play also.
