He’ll always be back. On August 25, James Cameron’s groundbreaking film Terminator 2: Judgment Day is getting a 3D re-release in theatres and Distrib Films US has released a trailer for it. Check out the trailer below…
At the time it was released in 1991, T2 was the most expensive film ever made with a budget of $102 million. The use of CGI on Robert Patrick’s advanced liquid metal T-1000 pushed the envelope of what could be done with computer enhanced technology and graphics, arguably paving the way for improved graphics in films and even motion capture performances. In its original run, the Terminator sequel made $520 million worldwide and went on to collect four technical Oscars at the Academy Awards.
T2: Judgment Day takes place 11 years after the original film with Sarah Connor in a mental institution and her son John a wayward young teen, believing his mom is simply crazy about her warnings for the future. That changes when one day a reprogrammed T-800 comes back in time to protect him from the T-1000, an advanced Terminator with the capabilities to mimic anyone with its liquid metal form and is near impossible to kill. Sarah, John and the T-800 must not only destroy the T-1000, but stop Judgement Day from ever happening to save humanity.
T2: Judgement Day saw the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton with Edward Furlong, as well as adding Robert Patrick and Joe Morton to the film. While a sequel to Terminator Genysis has been cancelled, James Cameron will apparently act as a ‘godfather’ to the next Terminator film, to be directed by Deadpool‘s Tim Miller, in 2019.
