The ZX Spectrum Next Kickstarter has now closed and they managed to reach their wanted target. To say, “managed to reach” is however rather a massive understatement, as they blew it out of the water, for they in fact they nearly tripled their needed goal when the gates closed late yesterday evening.
Initially the ZX Spectrum Next team, led by Henrique Olifiers, had set their wanted goal at £250,000 GBP, however within 48 hours this total had already been smashed. To this they then set a cluster of ‘Stretch Goals’ and these to were easily passed, here then more people arrived including the Oliver Twins to announce that another Stretch Goal was being added, in this case a brand-new Dizzy title…Smashed; this continued.
Yesterday the final stretch goal sat unreached at £650,000 with just a few hours to go and then this too was broken and the total continued to rise, bringing the final figure for the ZX Spectrum Next Kickstarter Campaign to £723,390 almost three-times the wanted total.
On the ZX Spectrum Next Kickstarter Campaign page this morning it reads…
“Congratulations for keeping the Spectrum alive. Heck, congrats for enabling its evolution. You rock! ;)”
Whilst Victor Trucco part of the ZX Spectrum Next team posted on Twitter.
Thank you all! We did it! Amazing campaign!#ZXSpectrumNext
