The latest installment in the Monster Hunter franchise has been announced at the Sony E3 Press Conference: Monster Hunter World. The series looks to be getting quite a face-lift with this new installment in the wildly popular Capcom franchise. In an official gameplay trailer, our hero is seen stalking through a lush jungle, giant-sword in hand. Right away, it’s clear that the environments are far more interactive, which is apparent in, and out of battle. See for yourself below…
The zip-lining, in particular, seems to suggest that battles will play out very differently this time around. In the footage, we see the hunter engage the monster across multiple areas. Capcom announced that the game offers a “seamless gameplay experience allowing players to move freely across map areas that comprise the living ecosystem”.
The animations look very smooth, so perhaps this installment will ditch the infamously awkward controls in favor of something a little smoother (and hopefully less painful on your hands)? Before you think that the online component wasn’t covered, Capcom described “a newly designed online drop-in multiplayer system” for up to three players across all of the games varied regions.
There is no release date as of yet, but the game is slated for 2018.
