Relic Entertainment have announced that the new Annihilation update will arrive for their hit RTS game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III on the 20th June. This all new update will offer a new game mode, new doctrines, new skins and a new map. Relic have released two new trailers introducing this update, and you can watch them below…
The Annihilation update will introduce the new Annihilation game mode which has a classic multiplayer feel but is ideal for taking on AI opponents. In this new game mode the battle isn’t won until all the opponents core structures have been destroyed. There is also the Annihilation with Defences mode that gives players a head start in base defence and will see faction themed turrets defending your base while you have chance to build up your forces.
This update will introduce 3 new doctrines, one for each faction and unlocked for all players in all multiplayer modes. When chosen these doctrines will allow players to build defensive turrets wherever the player chooses.
Although all maps have been tweaked to enable them to play host to the Annihilation mode a new map called Mortis Vale has also been included in this update designed specifically for this new mode. Mortis Vale is a 2v2 and 3v3 map with an open plan design ideal for assaults.
Finally, Annihilation will provide new skins for the larger war machines with one new skin for each faction. These new skins will include:
- House Raven – Imperial Knight Paladin: Close allies of the Techpriests of Mars, the Imperial Knights of House Raven stand against the enemies of Man, bringing devastation to challengers.
- Exalted – Ranged Wraithknight: Shining in specially designed wraithbone, the Exalted Wraithknight is a glorious agent of the Craftworld.
- Deathskulls – Gorkanaut: Deathskulls are the premier looters and scavengers among the Orks. This Gorkanaut is the ultimate junkyard manifestation of their love for destruction.
The new Annihilation update will be available on the 20th June.
