Developer Confused Pelican have announced that their arcade RPG title, Iron Crypticle, will be available to download for the Playstation 4 on the 11th and Xbox One and PC on the 12th July. This arcade twin-stick dungeon shooter will have aspects familiar to retro gamers from past classics. Watch the new launch trailer below to see if you can guess which games have inspired this entertaining looking title…
In Iron Crypticle players take the role of one of the washed up Kings Guard and leap into action after a mysterious and malevolent force steals the king’s royal golden treasures and the Princess. Players will need to venture on this rescue mission into the ancient magical crypts beneath the city where resident monsters and guardians will attempt to prevent you reaching your destination. There will not only be different enemies to try and stop you but also different routes to take, with each route providing a different challenge.
Throughout the quest players will be able to level up their abilities, Speed, Damage, Fire Rate and Weapon Duration, by visiting shops or through carefully chaining the food pickups dropped by defeated enemies. To help on the quest are a variety of weapons and magic scrolls to unlock and the powerful Atomic Fist ability.
Iron Crypticle has been inspired by a number of classic games with inspiration for the game’s core taken from Smash TV / Robotron, the item collection system inspired by Bubble Bobble / Rainbow Islands and an overall feel of Ghosts and Goblins / Gauntlet in the setting.
Iron Crypticle arrives on the PS4 tomorrow and on the Xbox One and PC on Wednesday.
