It’s been a while since we had a ‘First Look’ video for a new civ in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, but now Firaxis and 2K have introduced Nubia as a new playable race and is available as DLC for a small price. Nubia is ruled by Amanitore who was considered one of the last great builders of the kingdom of Meroe. Watch the new first look video below for more information on Nubia…
Amanitore, like many queens of Nubia before her, was a warrior queen who led her forces into battle but she was also ruler at a time when her kingdom experienced great growth through building. During her reign Nubia became a very prosperous land and saw the restoration of the temples of Amun, Naqa and Amara.
Nubia’s special ability is ‘Ta Seti’ which provides bonus production towards ranged units and allows them to gain combat experience faster. This ability also allows mines to give bonus production over strategic resources and bonus gold over luxuries.
Amanitore’s ability is ‘Kandake of Meroe’, this provides a bonus to production when building districts. This bonus is also improved when a Nubian Pyramid is adjacent to the city centre.
Nubia’s unique unit is the Pitati which replaces the ancient era archer. The Pitati is stronger and faster than the ancient archer and will upgrade to crossbowman. The Nubian Pyramid is Nubia’s unique city improvement and requires the masonry advancement. The Nubian Pyramid must be built on Desert, Desert Hills or in Floodplains regions and provides faith as well as a bonus based on districts adjacent to the pyramid.
This DLC will also introduce the ‘Gift of the Nile’ 125 turn scenario that will see players take control of either Nubia or Egypt in a race to control the Nile. The civ who completes seven temples dedicated to Amun wins.
