Marvel Studios has just released a brand new trailer for November’s hotly-anticipated Thor: Ragnarok, and it’s rather splendid indeed! Check it out here…
During the panel, it was confirmed that the movie takes place four years after Thor: The Dark World, and that Loki has been posing as Odin for all that time. Meanwhile, The Hulk has spent two years on Sakaar (and refused to revert back to Bruce Banner), during which time he’s developed the vocabulary of a two-year old. Meanwhile, The Grandmaster is confirmed as the brother of The Collector, and both are Elders of the Universe, and Clancy Brown is lending his voice to Surtur.
Some Comic-Con exclusive footage was also shown; here’s a description via Coming Soon…
It begins with Thor strapped to a chair that is moving through a Disneyland like ride. Projections all around him tell the story of Sakaar. It’s a focus point of the universe where “unwanted” things wind up. Thor is very confused and tries to force his way out.
Suddenly the projections vanish and Thor is still in the chair, now in front of the Grandmaster. Behind him is an army of Jack Kirby-style space warriors. Rachel House is in the scene. She’s an assistant to the Grandmaster. She doesn’t like Valkyrie at all, but Valkyrie has brought in Thor and the Grandmaster is very pleased.
Thor is thrown into a sort of cell with Korg. It’s a big loop of a hallyway. “This whole thing is a big circle,” says Korg. “Well, not a full circe. Sort of a freaky circle.” If you go out one end, you start again at the other. Thor says he’s going to escape. “That’s exactly what Doug used to say,” says Korg. “See you later, new Doug!”
Grandmaster refers to his gladiator battles as “a contest of champions,” which is a nice homage. They’re showing the Hulk vs Thor fight. “How have you been?!” says Thor. “I don’t really hang out with the Avengers anymore. They got so corporate!”
In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk.
Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and features Marvel veterans Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk alongside Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge, Taika Waititi as Korg, Clancy Brown as Surtur and Sam Neill and Rachel House in an as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on October 27th in the UK and November 3rd in the States.
