UK based indie developer Atomicom and publisher GamesCo have announced that their new survival sandbox game, JCB Pioneer: Mars, will be released on Steam Early Access on the 31st August. This new sandbox surival game takes players to the Red Planet where they must attempt to develop a successful colony using powerful JCB construction equipment. A new trailer called ‘Tools of Mars’ has been released to accompany this announcement and showcases some of the technology you will have to rely on. Watch this new trailer below…
In JCB Pioneer: Mars players awake after their spaceship crash lands on Mars, surrounded by wreckage and vulnerable to the planet’s hostile environment players must do what they can to survive. As well as needing food and water players will also require oxygen to survive and it goes without saying that this resource should be the first priority. Once oxygen has been sourced players can start to establish themselves on Mars and create outposts, life support infrastructure and mines. To help players with construction there will be the opportunity to use futuristic, heavy-duty construction and mining vehicles specifically designed by actual JCB Engineers.
“We’re thrilled to announce the Early Access release date of JCB Pioneer: Mars. This is the first step players can take on their journey to colonise the red planet,” said Andy Santos, Design Director of Atomicom. “With the Tools Of Survival video, players are given a taste of the custom-designed technology and how it is crucial to their survival.”
“We are hugely excited by the announcement of JCB Pioneer: Mars’ Early Access release date,” said JCB Worldwide Marketing Director, Michael Plummer. “Members of our design team have relished the opportunity to create these futuristic space vehicles. We’re delighted that players will be able to use JCB machinery on the planet Mars before using them on earth.”
JCB Pioneer: Mars will arrive on Steam Early Access on the 31st August.
