Liam Hoofe with his predictions for Sunday’s No Mercy event…
WWE Raw presents No Mercy this Sunday, the company’s first PPV since SummerSlam at the end of August.
What a show the WWE has put together for this Sunday night as well. Not only is every title on the Raw brand being defended, but we are also being treated to two matches that are WrestleMania worthy. The show could easily turn out to be one of the best PPVs of the year and has had a pretty great build over the last few weeks.
So who is walking away from No Mercy with a tick in the win column? Let’s take a look at my predictions for each match.
Neville Vs Enzo Amore
Enzo Amore has had a strange few months. From being part of one of the company’s most popular tag teams to 205 Live, his reputation in the company has taken something of a hit due to rumoured backstage heat.
While there is an argument for him defeating Neville – he is popular and would help draw fans to the division – personally, I would see it as an insult to Neville if he were to drop the belt here.
Neville has been one of the most consistent performers in the WWE this year and having him drop the belt to a guy who has just dropped down to the division would not do the credibility of the belt any favours.
Neville mustn’t just win this match on Sunday, but he must do so in a clean and decisive manner. He has ruled over the division for the best part of a year now, and having him lose, or even come close to losing to Enzo, does the whole division a huge injustice.
Prediction: Neville retains
Alexa Bliss Vs Nia Jax Vs Sasha Banks Vs Emma Vs Bayley
Why the WWE hasn’t pulled the trigger on a Nia vs Alexa feud, I’ll never know, but the match on Sunday should be a fairly solid encounter if nothing else. The addition of Bayley adds a little excitement to proceedings, and will no doubt continue to tease a Bayley/Sasha feud, but I don’t see either of them walking away with the belt.
With Asuka’s arrival on Monday nights imminent, Alexa should retain here. A feud between Asuka and Alexa heading into Survivor Series is the most attractive prospect right now. The company can continue to build Nia and a match between her and Asuka at Mania could be a belter.
Prediction: Alexa finds a way to retain
Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins Vs Sheamus and Cesaro
These two teams put on a great match at SummerSlam and you can expect the same from them on Sunday night. Sheamus and Cesaro have been nothing short of excellent these last few months, but with Sheamus set to take time off in the near future, their days as a tag team are numbered.
Ambrose and Rollins are on fire right now, and potential feuds with The Hardys and The Club are waiting just around the corner for them. The champs will retain in what could well be the match of the night on Sunday.
Prediction: Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins retain the tag team titles
The Miz Vs Jason Jordan
While fans haven’t exactly taken to the Jason Jordan/Kurt Angle storyline, I’m glad that Jordan is in the position he is in on the card. He is one of the most talented younger workers in the company and it’s nice to see them pushing fresh talent.
This match is legitimately difficult to call. Jordan winning really wouldn’t surprise me. There would be plenty of new feuds for him to have as the champion and The Miz could then continue his growing feud with Angle and perhaps work a programme with someone like Balor.
On the other hand, they might want to hold off on Jordan’s push for now and have The Miz keep the belt until Survivor Series.
I’m going with the latter here, purely because I think they will want to get some length out of this feud.
Prediction: The Miz retains
