Australian developer Screwtape Studios have launched the Kickstarter to their challenging arcade platformer, Damsel. The Kickstarter for this vamp’ slaying platformer will run until the 29th October and the hope is to raise $50,000 AUD but don’t dismiss the game until you’ve tried the playable demo on the Kickstarter page and watched the trailer below…
Damsel follows the story of kick ass heroine Agent Damsel who, armed with her UV shotgun, must destroy the vampires who are harvesting blood from innocent and unwary people from around the world. As well as the shotgun Damsel has access to a range of attacks that can be used to create combos with bigger points awarded the longer you keep those combos alive.
On the campaign launch, Product Manager Megan Summers said, “We’re really excited to show Damsel to the world. It gives us the opportunity to prove that you can have a traditional, challenging experience that appeals to a wider audience. Damsel isn’t intimidating, and by the time you realize the game is pushing you, you’re already hooked.”
“There can never be too many empowering role models for people, and with Damsel we’ve created a fun, relatable character for players to embody while learning the value of planning and perseverance in the face of a serious challenge.” said Creative Director Anthony Wood.
