Liam Hoofe with his predictions for this Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series 2017…
WWE Survivor Series is supposed to be one of the biggest WWE events of the year and after pulling out all the stops to make last year’s event one of the biggest in recent memory, they have gone one better this year, giving us a super-stacked card that should, by rights, be the best PPV of 2017.
That might seem like a big statement to make but seriously, take a look at that card! John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Triple H, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, The Shield and plenty of their newer stars all performing on one show is not something we get often outside of WrestleMania and judging from the matches they are in, I really can’t see anything disappointing on the night.
Once again, Raw and SmackDown will battle for brand supremacy, and the event has received a solid build, one full of plenty of twists and turns. Survivor Series often begins the company’s road to WrestleMania as well, and the history of the show is one full of surprises, so make sure you have booked Monday morning off work (well, UK readers at least) because this looks like a show that you don’t want to miss.
Pre-Show: Enzo Amore Vs Kalisto
Enzo has been such a great heel over the last few months, and the longer his reign goes on, the angrier fans will get. Kalisto is a great worker, but there would be no point switching the belt back to him right now. Expect Enzo to pick up the victory at Survivor Series and move on to his next opponent, who could well be NXT’s Hideo Itami, if rumours are to be believed.
Predicted Winner: Enzo Amore
The Miz Vs Baron Corbin
Heel vs heel matches are always difficult to build, and outside of a few choice words on social media, and the odd bit of name dropping in promos, this match has really not picked up any steam. The Miz should get the win here, purely because he has The Miztourage to help him, while Baron, as he likes to remind us, is a lone wolf. I’ve really nothing else to say about this match.
Predicted Winner: The Miz
The Bar Vs The Usos
The Bar’s surprising victory over Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins felt like it was robbing us of a potential match of the year candidate this Sunday night, but Sheamus and Cesaro have been on fire this year, and I don’t see the bout struggling too much due to their involvement.
This could be the match of the night candidate, one that continues The Usos’ incredible streak as of late. Jimmy and Jey deserve to pick up the victory on Sunday night, they have been two of the company’s best performers this year and a big victory at Survivor Series would be a fair reward for them. It would also add to their characters if they are victorious on a night that SmackDown ultimately loses.
Predicted Winners: The Usos
Charlotte Flair Vs Alexa Bliss
Charlotte’s victory over Natalya on Tuesday night made another match that I had no interest in, into a very different prospect altogether. Charlotte and Alexa are arguably the two most talented women in the WWE right now, and the fact that they have managed to avoid each other up until now makes this match all the more interesting.
Looking at the rest of the results here, smart money would be on Charlotte picking up the win, just to give SmackDown a few consultation victories over the course of the night. A nice twist here would be having Carmella ever-present at ringside, eyeing up both women as potential victims, and perhaps even robbing Charlotte of her title mid-match, or just after the bell rings. Alternatively, of course, she could surprise us all and take the belt off Alexa Bliss on Sunday night, giving us a surprise jump to Monday nights for the Queen of Staten Island, paving the way for a potential reunion with real-life boyfriend, Big Cass.
Predicted Winner: Charlotte Flair
