Ronda Rousey Close to Signing with the WWE
Ronda Rousey’s arrival in the WWE has been the talk of the IWC for the best part of the last six months, and the latest reports indicate that the former UFC champion is very close to putting pen to paper with the company.
Sources close to Rousey have told a USA Today reporter that the deal is very close to happening. While the WWE has not commented on the situation, it is believed that Rousey will be arriving in the WWE very soon.
There has been much speculation as to who Rousey will be facing when she does arrive in the WWE, and the smart money is on either a one-on-one showdown with Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania or a tag match between the Four Horsewomen of UFC and the Four Horsewomen of WWE.
Woken Matt Hardy Update
Fans were pleasantly surprised this week when Matt Hardy’s ‘Woken’ gimmick made its debut on Monday Night Raw but they were also surprised also when it appeared that the gimmick was not being watered down and that we were going to get the gimmick at its craziest.
Sports Illustrated reported yesterday that Vince McMahon is apparently quite sold on the idea of the gimmick, and in a surprising move, is willing to allow Hardy to have creative control over it on television. This is a rare move by the company, with Vince often not being a huge fan of gimmicks he didn’t have a direct hand in creating.
Rob Van Dam Done with the WWE
Rob Van Dam, the former WWE champion, is no stranger to the occasional reappearance in the WWE, with his last outing for the company being in 2014. Speaking in an interview with Blast.com this week though, Van Dam revealed that he would no longer be able to work for the company due to a concussion he sustained in 2016.
Van Dam said that the injury caused him ‘visual impairment’ and that the WWE would not clear him to compete now. However, this is in no way a retirement announcement from RVD, with the superstar still continuing to wrestle for promotions all around the world.
