New Championship to be Revealed
Nxt has been in need of a mid-card title belt for some time now, and during last night’s NXT tapings, William Regal announced that the brand would introduce the North American Championship at NXT Takeover: New Orleans. The first ever champion will be determined in a 6 man ladder match. PWinsider are reporting that the participants for the match will be Ethan Carter III, Velveteen Dream, Ricochet, Adam Cole, Lars Sullivan and Killian Dain.
Main Event Confirmed for NXT Takeover: New Orleans
Talking of NXT, on last night’s show, Aleister Black defeated Killian Dain in the night’s main event and it was later confirmed, as expected, that Black would be squaring off with Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas for the NXT title in the main event of NXT Takeover: New Orleans. Elsewhere on the card, The Authors of Pain defeated TM61 in the first round of this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic.
Jeff Hardy Update
Pro Wrestling Sheet are reporting that Jeff Hardy has been cleared by his surgeon and is now just waiting for confirmation from the WWE before he makes his in-ring return. Hardy has been out of action since last September, and many fans expect him to adopt his Brother Nero gimmick and team with Woken Matt Hardy upon his return. There is no word yet on whether or not the company plan to use Hardy at this year’s Wrestlemania, however, there have been plenty of rumors suggesting that they will.
