During a Tenacious D performance at the Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta, Georgia this past weekend, Jack Black announced that he and Kyle Gass have been working on a sequel to the cult rock comedy Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.
ToneDeaf reports that Black told the crowd the sequel would be released this October, and that: “I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it, but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out.”
Released in 2006, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny explore the fictional origin of Black and Gass’ Tenacious D and their quest to become rock legends by stealing a supernatural guitar pick crafted from a piece of Satan’s (Dave Grohl) tooth.
Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny received mixed reviews from critics and struggled at the box office with just $14 million worldwide from a $20 million budget.
