Following last month’s news that The Path has been cancelled by Hulu after three seasons, Michelle Monaghan looks set for a swift return to the small screen with the actress signing on to star in Netflix’s Messiah.
The ten episode series revolves around a man who emerges from the Middle East claiming he has been sent by God. The story will be told from multiple viewpoints, including a US Intelligence agent, a Palestinian refugee, an Israeli Shin Bet officer, and a Latino preacher and his daughter.
Monaghan is set to play US intelligence officer Eva Geller, who pits her wits against the man, Al-Masih (Mehdi Dehbi). Her character description reads: “Whip smart, tenacious and determined to prove she is right, Eva literally goes to the ends of the earth to prosecute this allusive figure while running headlong into the truth about her own moral convictions.”
Messiah has been created by Michael Petroni, while James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Sense8) directs.
