5: Dean Ambrose
What a week it has been for Dean Ambrose. After making his grand return at the end of last week’s Raw, he helped Seth Rollins regain the Intercontinental title at SummerSlam, before putting on a great match with Dolph Ziggler on this week’s Raw. Just to top all of that, he then took part in one of the best Raw closing segments in recent memory, reuniting with his former Shield team-mates to take out Braun Strowman.
Ambrose has been excellent since he returned, and with The Shield reunion and a potential heel-turn still on the cards, things are only going to get better.
4: Finn Balor
Finn Balor has had a great 48 hours. He may have lost to Roman Reigns in the main event of Raw, but he took part in one of the brand’s best main-events of 2018, and one of the best Universal title matches in recent memory. Hopefully, his performance on last night’s Raw grabbed the WWE’s attention, and he becomes a more permanent fixture in the Raw main-event scene.
24 hours prior to that, he made his return as the Demon at SummerSlam and defeated Baron ‘Constable’ Corbin in a matter of minutes, which hopefully draws a line under their feud.
3: Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey’s victory at SummerSlam may have been one of the most obvious results of the night, but it will still be interesting to see what the WWE decide to do with her now that she is the women’s champion.
The former UFC star is incredibly over, and there are plenty of potentially great feuds for her in the coming months. Hopefully, though, she doesn’t end up locked in a feud with Stephanie McMahon. The segment on this week’s Raw was pretty lame and it felt incredibly forced. Rousey is super-over as it is, she doesn’t need to be booked as a super babyface protecting the whole women’s division.
2: Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins has had an excellent 48 hours. He defeated Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam in another show-stealing match, to win back his Intercontinental title, and then he grabbed the headlines on this week’s Raw by taking part in the Shield reunion.
Rollins has arguably been the main roster’s superstar of the year so far, and with Dean Ambrose back in the mix, things are only going to continue to become more exciting for The Architect. It remains to be seen whether or not this Shield reunion will go very far, but it looks like Rollins is in for an excellent end to 2018.
1: Roman Reigns
The Big Dog’s title win at SummerSlam was an incredibly divisive moment but he proved that he has what it takes to make a great champion on this week’s Raw, putting on one of the brand’s best main-events this year against Finn Balor.
The match was an excellent showcase for both men’s skills and it featured a thrilling finale that saw Braun Strowman nearly cost Reigns his belt. Seriously, if the rest of Reigns’ title run is as exciting as his first 24 hours with the belt, then we could be in for a treat.
Having Braun be ever present in Roman’s matches only adds to the drama, and the Shield reunion was a thrilling way to close the show.
