Liam Hoofe with his predictions for this Sunday’s Survivor Series…
This Sunday night, the WWE presents the final of this year’s big 4 PPVs, Survivor Series. The event, as it has been for the last two years, is being built around a Raw Vs SmackDown format, with champions from each brand going one on one to determine which show is superior.
The show has undergone some serious changes in the past couple of days, with Daniel Bryan defeating AJ Styles to set up a Bryan Vs Lesnar match, and Becky Lynch being forced to remove herself from her match with Ronda Rousey, with Charlotte Flair stepping in as her replacement.
Survivor Series has established itself as one of the best shows on the WWE calendar over the last few years, and Sunday’s show looks set to be no different.
Let’s take a look at each of Sunday’s matches and predict how they are going to go down.
Team Raw Tag-teams Vs Team SmackDown Tag-teams
These matches are always incredibly chaotic and appear to just be a way to get as many superstars on the card as possible. They also serve as a nice reminder of who is still employed by the WWE, with many tag-teams who we don’t see for the rest of the year getting a few seconds in the spotlight.
Given the talents involved in this bout, Team SmackDown should walk out as comfortable victors; the likes of The New Day and The Usos should prove too much for the likes of The B Team and The Ascension.
Prediction: Team SmackDown Wins
AOP Vs The Bar
This is one of the most intriguing matches on the card and could be a dark horse candidate for match of the night. It’s great to see the WWE finally put the tag-team gold on a former NXT act, and hopefully, AOP can smash it out of the park and finally help bring some life back to the Raw tag-team division.
The duo will need some momentum to do that though, and that starts with them picking up the victory over The Bar at Survivor Series. The SmackDown tag-team champions are well established enough for a defeat not to affect them so this one feels like a no-brainer really.
Prediction: AOP Win
Buddy Murphy Vs Mustafa Ali
After stealing the show in Australia, Buddy Murphy will be hoping to impress the WWE Universe again at Survivor Series as he takes on Mustafa Ali. Unfortunately for Ali, the phrase ‘always the bridesmaid, never the bride’ pretty much sums up his 2018 and it looks as though that will be the case once again this Sunday.
While Ali would no doubt make for a great champion, Buddy Murphy is one of the hottest stars in the WWE right now, and he deserves to hold the belt until at least WrestleMania.
Prediction: Buddy Murphy retains
Shinsuke Nakamura Vs Seth Rollins
While this match has had the least build on the card, with Seth Rollins currently embroiled in a much bigger rivalry with Dean Ambrose, it still has the potential to be one of the hottest matches of the weekend.
Nakamura’s reign as US Champion has not really taken off, but Rollins has been one of the best performers in the WWE this year, and if anyone can take Naks up to the next level, then it’s him.
Nakamura could really do with a big win here, and given that Ambrose is probably going to get involved at some point during the match, it seems highly likely that he will get it.
Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura wins
