At one point in time, Captain Marvel‘s post-credits scene was going to tie into Thor: Ragnarok. Spoilers follow…
Captain Marvel is finally with us and fans around the world have had the chance to see the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for themselves. It seems to be going down pretty well if you look at the box office receipts.
A point that is often discussed with the MCU is post-credits scenes and for Captain Marvel, this involved a cat that isn’t all that it seems coughing up the Tesseract in humorous fashion. This wasn’t always the plan, however, as at one point the scene was going to tie into Thor: Ragnarok, as revealed in Empire‘s interview with directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck:
“There was an idea on the table about having Jude Law emerge from his pod on Sakaar, and then have him look around and see the Devil’s Anus behind him and wonder, ‘Where the hell am I?'”
Sakaar, of course, is the Grandmaster’s planet in Thor: Ragnarok, and perhaps this suggests that despite the scene being cut, this is where Jude Law’s character Yon-Rogg ended up. Would you like to have seen this scene? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) and sees Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island) leading the cast as Carol Danvers alongside Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lashana Lynch (Fast Girls), Gemma Chan (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Algenis Perez Soto (Sambá), Rune Temte (Eddie The Eagle), McKenna Grace (I, Tonya), Annette Bening (American Beauty), Ana Ayora (The Big Wedding), Vik Sahay (Chuck), Kenneth Mitchell (Star Trek: Discovery), Chuku Modo (The Good Doctor), Clark Gregg (The Avengers) and Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
