The cult classic action-RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is going to be receiving a sequel over fifteen years after its original release. The sequel announcement at the Game Developer Conference 2019 also came alongside the release of a CG trailer for the game.
Hardsuit Labs, responsible for developing other games such as Blacklight: Retribution, a first-person shooter originally released in 2012, are heading up the project. Some of the talent responsible for the original game developed by Troika Games are returning for the sequel: this includes the original story lead, Brian Mitsoda, who is now working as Lead Narrative Designer at Hardsuit Labs.
Some impressions from a thirty-minute private demo from GDC have already been released which have been mostly positive. Jon Ryan from IGN lauded the game and claims that, “Bloodlines 2 looks like it might give even the biggest, most anticipated RPGs of the next few years a run for their money.”
From the impressions released so far it looks as though the sequel will maintain a lot of gameplay mechanics fans of the original game will already be familiar with such as first and third-person action, RPG mechanics and stealth. The setting of the game will be a near-future Seattle, Washington and will take place years after the events in the universe of the original game.
Although an exact release date for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 hasn’t been specified, it will be releasing on both the Xbox One, PS4 and PC and is available for pre order on both Steam and the Epic Store.
